It was supposed to be beautiful on Saturday. If the meteorologist was to be believed I needed a plan. My sister-in-law and I talked and came up with a hike we needed to do. I didn't want much of an elevation gain and I didn't want to be in town. It was Wendy's job to find us a location. She picked so good! We met at her house and headed to Dungeness Spit. It was such a beautiful drive there. We drove around instead of taking the ferry. Totally worth it.
While we were walking our 10 miles of the day, we both talked a lot. About so many different things. On the way out to the light house I thought about how in about 12 hours the marks and footprints all would be washed away by the tide and waves. It was such a beautiful day that the spit was very busy. Lots of people were there. Lots of footprints. They would all be washed away and there would be a new start for the sand. It just struck me as a beautiful thought. A chance for a new beginning.
At the top of the lighthouse.
I love the sound of crashing waves.
What is left of the past.
Not one of these were placed here. Except by the sea. It changes all the time.
Our first view of the lighthouse.
The start of the hike/walk.
Looking for true North.
The pictures are out of order, and I don't mind, I guess. There is a good part of the hike towards the lighthouse that you can't see it. But you've been told it's there. Then you round a curve, and you can see it. It even looks pretty close. But it's not. It's still over 2 miles away. There is a lesson there. Keep going and keep your eyes out for the lighthouse. It will show itself to you. Keep going.
Wendy and I went to the top of the lighthouse. I've never been up in one before. It's a bit unnerving walking up to the top. Beautiful views. At this lighthouse you can sign up to stay in the caretakers house and be the guest host. It sounds so cool. We could see Canada and Mt. Baker. Infact when we get close the parking lot, our phones said welcome to Canada. We both said WHAT?? It was a really good day. I felt better after being outside all day. Sore as all get out, but good!
Peace
