Captains log, Sept 26, 2024
We went on the Outlander filming locations tour with Viator Tours.
First up is Doune Castle. It serves as Lollybroch. I would love to have this place. It would just take a bit of money.
The front of the castle.
We weren't allowed to go in. I really want to though.
The gate with Madeline
Me
The back
I'm thinking the cook house.
I'm going with the chicken coop.
I really do think with some vision and lots of money I could make this work. However, it's not for sale. That could be a problem. Beside the whole no money part of it. OR that my family lives here and has expressed ZERO desire to move to Scotland. So... on we go.
We drove by and paused for 1/2 a second to see the Sea Kelpies. There is a huge legend about them and the statues. My pictures didn't turn out well, so this is from the internet. They really are beautiful.
Doune Castle was used as Castle Leoch in Outlander. It was also used for some scenes in Game of Thrones.
On to Falkland, 1940's Inverness.
On to Culross, Fife. The Culross Palace Gardens stood in for Castle Leoch in Cranesmuir. Cranesmuir is not a real town.
We didn't pay to go into the gardens. We just had lunch and walked around.
Next is Blackness Castle, Fort Williams
It is built like a ships front. So it is called the Ship that Never Sailed.
I'm wearing 3 coats. I was so cold!
Then we headed back to the drop off site, then to our hotel and dinner and sleep.
Peace
