Merry Christmas!

Luke 2 (King James Version)

Luke 2
1And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
2(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
3And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men

Christmas Tree

This week has been the final push to get it all done for Christmas. I did start shopping a little at a time so it wasn't all left for the end. In all fairness though Dh has done most of the thinking and shopping this year. I am a bit overwhelmed and he has actually been totally into it. It has worked well. I'm glad he's had fun. I will do the wrapping I'm sure. I have done some baking this week. I am not doing all that I used to but we certainly will have sweet stuff to eat. :)

Magic cookie bars.

Peanut butter blossoms.

We and by we I mean Dh put the tree up yesterday so when we had dinner today we could get it decorated. It is a very pitiful tree but you know when they are all decorated and lit up they are beautiful. Bugs took over Skater's job and did the lights. I did have to adjust but no worries he said I could.
I cheated for dinner today and we just had a frozen lasagna. It was all of us, T2, Heir and Roommate and then a friend of Heirs and her daughter. She really likes The Littles and they like her. Everyone was really full when I brought a little plate out and filled it with a few different cookies I had in the freezer and Heir and Roommate both said they were getting Cookie Sweats! We were laughing so hard.
Then we got the tree decorated. I love going through each ornament and handing it to be put on the tree. I love remembering those different years and times in our lives and moments that we treasure.

Dh spreading some things out.

And since I didn't have Princess or Tinkerbell or Buster to pose under the tree I put my Scout there. She sat really nice she just doesn't smile!
I hope you all have a blessed week.

Little Hummers

Don't you just hate it when you are in the middle of baking and you are missing an ingredient? Grrrrrrr! Dh is on the way to the store to get some more brown sugar. Dagnabit!

Today I was at Charlotte's and all of a sudden she said LOOK! And there was the most gorgeous humming bird! I was like a dog and every time one caught my eye it was like SQUIRREL!!! ALL day long. I was there a hour longer then I should have been because I was chasing pictures of the Hummers. They have a holly tree next to some other trees and I'm pretty sure they have a nest in there or at least they live in there. Every time Charlotte walked by the tree they bombed here and then landed up on the top to yell at us to get away. It was VERY interesting. They can be aggressive little buggers.
I just never dreamt that we had hummingbirds here all year long. I love these little birds and I could watch them all day long!

Noah!

It is RAINING unrelenting rain! It has been for days. We are flooding all around us. So much water standing everywhere. Isn't that exciting! The Pineapple Express. They even have a name for the unrelenting rain for days on end. I just thought it was Winter in the Pacific Northwest.
In stead of answering in the comments area I thought I would just tell you about the sandwich cake. It's Pullman bread sliced at the bakery. It is a layer of chicken salad, egg salad and ham salad. There is a layer of bread between each filling. It is frosted with cream cheese and mayo mixed to spreadability. You slice it into thumb size thick slices. It's pretty cool and it tasted way better then I thought it would. Very interesting. I often wonder how recipes like this come to be! I have done some Christmas baking but not much. I was in the freezer today and noticed someone has been having a good time in the peanut butter blossoms. Thanks Guys!
Have a great week.

Recap

Here is Bugs at his Winter concert. They did a really good job.

A long time ago one of my houses who entertain A LOT made something she called a Sandwich Cake. I have seen her make it several times. It always made me go hmmmmmmmm? I was there Friday and she was making it again and had more extra bread so she made me a small one.

One side

The other side

And the end. It's 3 different fillings

My lunch. It's actually not bad. I can see why it would be good for showers or gatherings. Very cool Mrs. Mansion, very cool!

Good night Sweet Laura

When we moved here a million years ago I worked at KFC. I met some really odd/wonderful people there. Most have moved on through my life and we don't have any connection anymore. I met my wonderful Anita through there. Enter Laura. Laura had a very hard life. Some of it what the decisions she had made and some of it she was born to or the hand she was dealt. She was one of the most giving people you would ever meet. I've stayed on contact with her through the years. Her son was a friend and co-worker too for a time. He and his wife have 2 lovely kids. John got cancer and died about 2 years ago. Laura was devastated but continued on. She loved his wife and those kids with everything in her. Her family meant everything to her. Laura had very bad health issues. She had had several heart attacks and a small stroke. Sometime in the night last she had another heart attack. Her granddaughter found her and called for help. When I got the call this morning the news was that it wasn't good. Her heart was just to tired. She died early this afternoon. Rest in Peace Laura.

My Little Weirdo

I was going to do a Wordless Wednesday but really don't have an interesting picture to share and instead of setting one up I figured I would just write something.

Last night was Bug's Winter Concert. He did well. I appreciated that the teacher started on time and just got to it. I don't like being on time and kept waiting. They did a really nice job.

Tonight for dinner we had soup and grilled cheese. Monkey asked for a grilled cheese then when I went to clear the table later his cheese was sitting on the plate. Doesn't that just make it TOAST? I thought it was strange when he asked for it. He doesn't care much for cheese. Do you know any other 6 year old who doesn't eat pizza?

We had a nice quick visit with my dad. I went with him to deliver the meat and then had dinner and called it a day. He was up and out of here very early to go see my Uncle then head home. He had good roads though. He was even home before it was to dark.

Peace.

Sunday!

I have been carrying my camera a bit more this week. This is one of the pictures I got. I really love these little birds. They are so tiny.

On Friday my friend Rescue Rita and I took off for Puyallup. I was on a mission. We went to the Victorian Country Christmas at the fair grounds. It was a nice day.

We saw a little bit of some old Broadway show.

They were very pretty.

Yesterday it was in the low 30's when I got up. My routine is I get up and put the dogs out. Scout HAS to go out as soon as she's up. Itty bitty girly bladder. She has to stay out long enough to go pooh. It was VERY cold and she doesn't DO cold. I didn't put her sweater on her. I was standing at the kitchen sink getting water for tea and I thought what is she sitting on? I walked to the door and looked and she was sitting in the SUNSHINE on a little piece of wood in front of the fence. I was laughing so hard. I had to grab the camera and zoom through the window, through the deck slats because if I opened the door she would have come running.

Soaking up the rays.

Bolt went and sat beside her. Doesn't she look like a doggie Buddha?
I asked Heir Apparent what his choice would be for dinner today. It was his turn and I don't know what they have eaten lately. He wanted BBQ burgers and dogs. I said No I'm not grilling. He said he would. So burgers/dogs it was. I made Cookie Salad and that is always a HUGE hit. Everyone was happy. He said it was funny grilling in the dark but it was fun and it tasted good. The Seahawks won their game today so he was already in a good mood. WHEW! He stayed and watched Amazing Race with us. He and Roommate have applied but didn't get on, they will keep trying until they do. I would love it if they made it on. If I didn't like the show so much I would boycott it until they took them. They have a plan all worked out for when they go.
My dad will be here tomorrow. He is delivering meat. He won't stay long but it will be nice to see him again. I like it best when not a lot of time passes between visits.
I hope you have a blessed week.
Peace
